Ashmole & Co have raised a staggering £16,000 for Wales Air Ambulance. The staff at the accountancy firm held a number of events as part of their 125th anniversary celebrations to fundraise for the life-saving charity.

With thirteen offices spread across mid and south Wales, approximately 100 staff including Partners from Ashmole & Co, battled the wind and rain last October, to walk up Pen y Fan, the highest peak in south Wales, as the main fundraising event. Staff also held dress down Fridays, ran half marathon races and did cake bakes to raise funds.

Mark Gould, the longest serving Partner with Ashmole and Co said, “We wanted to mark Ashmole & Co’s 125th anniversary year by fundraising for a worthwhile charity. Everyone we speak to knows someone who has been helped by the Welsh Air Ambulance Service. We are extremely grateful to our clients and friends who helped us raise this fantastic amount for this extremely worthy cause.”

Wales Air Ambulance, which was founded in 2001, has completed over 45,000 missions and is on standby 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Often described as a ‘Flying ED’, the charity operates from bases across Wales. The Wales Air Ambulance needs to raise £8 million every year to keep its helicopters in the air and rapid response vehicles on the road.

The Charity offers advanced critical care across Wales which is delivered via a unique Third Sector and Public Sector partnership between the Wales Air Ambulance Charity and the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS Cymru).

As a result, the service is consultant-led and is known as a ‘flying emergency department’, taking hospital-standard treatments to the patient at the scene of an incident. This includes the ability to administer anaesthesia, deliver blood transfusions and conduct minor operations, all at the scene of an incident.

Mark Stevens, Wales Air Ambulance’s Head of Fundraising, said, “We are incredibly grateful to Ashmole & Co for choosing to support us and for raising such a substantial amount for our charity.

“Wales Air Ambulance is funded by the people of Wales and we rely entirely on public donations to operate our service. Without support like this, we simply wouldn’t exist. Ashmole & Co have shown that you can raise money through a variety of ways and get all staff involved. Thank you to everyone who contributed and supported us.”
