Dear Editor
Barmy Britain
What total madness embracing carbon capture and storage industrial plants (the technology has yet to be proven) at an eye-watering cost of £20bn in the name of the so-called energy revolution. According to the Committee of Climate Change, which advises Government, carbon capture is vital. Well I have news for them – it is not, and you truly have to wonder what calibre of advisers make up this challengeable committee? The money would be better spent on a Space-Based Solar Power (SBSP) scheme, which for the same money would provide over £3GW of clean power both day and night, while a carbon capture scheme will not generate a single watt and have an absolutely minuscule effect on global emissions – remembering that due to phasing out coal-fired power stations UK emissions are down 2.2%. To put this into further perspective the UK peak demand for 2019 was 47.275GW and £20bn could build twenty 2GW efficient CCGT power stations offering a staggering 40GW of power. Therefore some kind soul should guide Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero, to a quiet room and explain the power industry (especially generation) and what CO2 means for life on our planet – Grant Shapps started his working life as a photocopier sales rep, and with no disrespect to the photocopier industry, I guess it explains quite a lot. Nevertheless, in spite of such foolish Government Ministers, have a Happy Easter dear reader.
