St John Ambulance Cymru are offering free charity running spaces to individuals for the Swansea, Cardiff and Llanelli Half Marathons.
If you are a running fanatic, or if you just love a challenge, you can enter the half marathons for free with St John Ambulance Cymru, as long as you pledge to raise a minimum of £220 in support of their charitable work in communities across Wales. When you sign up, the organisation can provide you with everything you may need to help you fundraise.
The funds you raise will go towards lifesaving first aid training in schools and community groups, fun and educational youth programmes for children aged 5+ and vital voluntary first aid cover at key events throughout the country. Raising funds for St John Ambulance Cymru means helping to make Wales a safer place for all.
31 year old Dave Newington ran the Cardiff Half Marathon for the charity last year. “My friends Warren, Lewis and I ran for St John Ambulance Cymru because we could see the brilliant work the charity does in the heart of Welsh communities. The three of us trained for the race together and it was a great way to motivate each other. If you have friends that enjoy running too, I would definitely recommend signing up together.” He said.
“After we signed up, we had great fundraising guidance from the fundraising team, who helped us set up our JustGiving page. We ended up raising £1100, £300 more than we expected!”
“All the hard work was worth it to know that the money was going to such great cause” he said.
St John Ambulance Cymru volunteers will be at all three half marathons providing first aid cover for those running and those spectating. A great reminder of why the charity’s work is so important to communities in Wales.
The half marathons are taking place in Swansea on 11th June, Llanelli on 24th September and Cardiff on 1st October. “There is very much still time to sign up and start your training” says Alan Drury, Community and Events Manager at St John Ambulance Cymru, “Not only will entering the half marathons help you to achieve a personal goal and challenge yourself, but it will also raise funds for a fantastic cause. Your support really could mean the difference between a life lost and a life saved”.
