- New research from Party Delights has predicted the outcome of Eurovision 2023 using odds and streaming data
- Sweden’s ‘Tattoo’ by Loreen came out on top with over 37 million views and streams as well as having a 40% chance of winning according to the odds
- Norway’s ‘Queen of Kings’ by Alessandra ranked second with a similar number of streams
- The UK are only the sixth favorites according to the study with the host nation narrowly missing out last year.
New research from online party products retailer Party Delights has predicted Sweden to win this year’s Eurovision song contest.
The study first determined who would get through the two semi-final heats by ranking each competing nation on betting odds data, combined Spotify Streams and YouTube views and a qualifying score. Once it was known which countries had qualified, the same approach was applied to the finalists.
Using this methodology ‘Tattoo’ by Sweden’s Loreen ranked as the favourite to win the 2023 Eurovision song contest, having a 40% chance of winning according to the odds data and the second-highest streaming score behind only Italy.
Norway’s entry ‘Queen of Kings’ by Alessandra placed in second having a remarkably similar figure of just over 37 million streams and views. However, it scored less in that category because the song’s release date was much earlier.
Host nation the UK will finish in sixth place according to the data with Mae Muller’s ‘I Wrote a Song’ predicted to fall short of last year’s entry from Sam Ryder, which placed second in 2022.
Finland ranked third making it an all-Scandinavian top three, after being second to Sweden in the odds race and the fifth-best views and streams score.
The first of the six automatic finalists in this year’s contest, Italy, followed with their entry ‘Due vite’ by Marco Mengoni having the best streams/ views score by some distance with over a whopping 88 million combined, which made up for a poor odds score.
Israel are fifth favorites with strong figures across the board, meaning four out of the top five are predicted to be from the second semi-final of the contest.
At the opposite end of proceedings, Denmark are predicted to come in last place with a less than 1% chance of winning according to the odds and a very low streams and views score, only beaten by three other nations predicted to be competing in the 2023 final.
