A sexual offender from Bridgend has been jailed for two years and eight months for breaching his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Shane Mills, 25, breached the conditions of his order, when his Offender Manager suspected he had access to an undeclared mobile phone which allowed him to access the internet. The officer’s suspicions were confirmed when a warrant conducted at Mills’ address uncovered a mobile that was attributed to him.
Last week, Mills was jailed at Cardiff Crown Court to two years and eight months after pleading guilty to two counts of breaching his SHPO and one count of breaching his suspended sentence.
Convicted sex offenders subject to a SHPO are closely managed by designated officers and are required to declare certain changes in circumstance so that their risk can be continually managed.
DS Daniel Parry said:
“The imprisonment of Mills has no doubt reduced the risk to the public and reduced the ability for him to commit yet another serious offence.
“Sexual Harm Prevention Orders are ultimately put in place to protect the community and manage risk around further offending, which is why any breach is taken incredibly seriously and we will never hesitate to take action.”
