Wales ranked among the UK’s hotspots for wild camping

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here is back on our screens with some of the show’s most popular previous contestants embarking on a unique All Stars journey in the South African bush. But one thing that hasn’t changed is having to camp out in the wild. 

So where in the UK are the ultimate wild camping hotspots? 

Inspired, travel enthusiasts at Motorcycle Insurance (https://www.motorcycleinsurance.org.uk) have created the ultimate list of 10 of the best wild camping hotspots in the UK to visit this summer – of which 3 are in Wales, with a combined search interest of 13,270 per month.

Dartmoor in Devon has been ranked the best place to wild camp in the UK with more than 35,000 Google searches, perhaps due to its stunning landscapes, peaceful atmosphere, and abundance of outdoor activities. The area is made up of rolling hills and moorland which offer spectacular views. There are also plenty of sheltered spots to camp in, as well as plenty of picturesque rivers, streams and bogs to explore. 

Ullswater in Cumbria takes second place with 22,370 combined Google searches per month in the UK. It is a great place to wild camp in the UK due to its beautiful landscapes and tranquil atmosphere as it  is made up of rolling hills and moorland, as well as mountains, forests and a large lake, offering plenty of areas to explore. The area also has a rich cultural heritage and history, with plenty of ancient sites, standing stones and archaeological remains to discover.

Taking third place is the Cairngorms in Scotland providing a unique opportunity to experience wild camping in the UK with a combined search interest of 18,670 queries per month nationwide. With its varied landscapes, ranging from mountains and rivers to lochs and ancient forests, it offers plenty of places to explore and discover. There are also plenty of sheltered spots to camp in, as well as plenty of picturesque rivers and streams.
