Royal Appointment for North Wales Action for Children duo

A care-experienced young person and charity worker from North Wales have had a dream day out in London when they met Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales at a Royal Garden Party on Tuesday 9th May.  

College student, Rhys Anderson (16) living independently after 4 successful years at one of the charity’s children’s homes in Denbighshire and his Action for Children transition worker, Lottie Morris, were invited to the garden party hosted by the Princess who is also the Patron of Action for Children. The pair were introduced to Princess Kate and chatted about the charity and their experiences for a few minutes. 

Rhys said: ‘It was really thrilling to meet the Princess of Wales, she was really nice and interested in us.  I can’t believe I’ve been into Buckingham Palace and it was great to talk about my experiences and hopes for the future. 

He added: ‘I’ve learned a lot from my time at the Action for Children home, the staff really helped me settle down after a very rough time moving all over the place.  They made it a real home for me, and I feel ready to take on the world now and being invited to a Royal Garden Party has been the icing on the cake.’ 

Lottie said: ‘It was a privilege to be part of a Buckingham Palace Garden party at such a special time for the Royal family and a great opportunity to talk about the difference we make to the families and children in our communities who need it most.  

‘It was also very special to accompany Rhys who is growing up to be an outstanding young man who has faced too many great challenges in his young life.  All us staff love him and have no doubts he will flourish and thrive as he takes on the world.  We had a wonderful day out in London and made lifelong memories.’
