Ahead of Wales Tourism Week, 15 – 21 May, Carmarthenshire County Council is urging more people to get involved and become a Carmarthenshire Ambassador.

Following the successful launch of the Carmarthenshire Ambassador scheme in January 2023, Carmarthenshire County Council is pleased to announce that a new module has been released in celebration of Llandovery hosting the 2023 Urdd Eisteddfod, later this month.

The ‘Welsh Language in Carmarthenshire’ module discovers how Cymraeg is integral to the identity of everyday lives of our communities.

Over 100 people have already taken up the challenge to become a Carmarthenshire Ambassador to Bronze Level, and this is the first new module that will take you on your journey to silver accreditation.

Further modules will be released in the coming months, so keep an eye out for the “Coastal Carmarthenshire’ and ‘Green Spaces and Gardens’ modules.

Amongst the 100 and more Carmarthenshire Ambassadors is the County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism, Cllr Gareth John.

On completing his Bronze Level accreditation and the ‘Welsh Language in Carmarthenshire’ module, Cllr. John said“I am proud to officially be a Carmarthenshire Ambassador and work on behalf of the county’s tourism sector. In just over a fortnight, Carmarthenshire will be hosting the Urdd Eisteddfod at Llandovery in what will be a weeklong youth festival, celebrating our nation’s language and heritage. It’s very timely, therefore, that we launch the ‘Welsh Language in Carmarthenshire’ module within the Carmarthenshire Tourism Ambassador scheme.

“This module will enable our ambassadors to better appreciate how intertwined the Welsh language is with every aspect of our county, and has shaped it into the Sir Gâr that we know and love so well.”
