St John Ambulance Cymru have launched their most exciting charity challenge yet, Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at Night.

Wales’ leading first aid charity are working with RAW Adventures – Climb Snowdon to provide an unforgettable experience for those that love a challenge, all in support of St John Ambulance Cymru’s lifesaving work in communities across Wales.

The Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) at Night challenge is not your ordinary charity challenge, participants will begin the hike at approximately 3:30am, reaching the peak at sunrise.

As one of the only 18 International Dark Sky Reserves in the world, participants can enjoy the rare opportunity to escape light pollution and connect with nature before they reach the summit. Guided by qualified local Mountain Leaders, participants and will reach the 1085m peak just in time for sunrise. The hike will all be worth it when individuals take in the breath-taking views across the coast and northern Snowdonia.

Not only will individuals be making lasting memories and challenging themselves physically, but all funds raised will help St John Ambulance Cymru deliver free first aid training sessions to schools and community groups, as well as providing first aid cover at key events, keeping the public safe. Funds also go towards St John Ambulance Cymru’s youth programmes, providing Wales with a new generation of young lifesavers.

Registration for the challenge costs just £49 per person, and all participants will receive a St John Ambulance Cymru t-shirt, certificate and post-challenge celebration breakfast.

All the charity ask is that you pledge to raise a minimum of £195 in sponsorship. Following registration, participants will receive their training plan, kit list and advice on how to get started with their fundraising. St John Ambulance Cymru’s friendly fundraising team will also be on hand throughout, to offer support and advice to help you reach your fundraising goal.

Ellie Barnes, Fundraising Assistant at St John Ambulance Cymru, is the event lead for the challenge, she said, “We are so excited about this challenge as it appeals to so many people. It is not only physically and mentally rewarding, but it is also so fun! Participants will get to bond as a group and make lasting memories together, whilst raising funds for a brilliant cause.”
