New research has revealed the cost of a trip to the Cannes Film Festival aboard a superyacht, providing an insight into the extravagant lifestyle of the world’s wealthiest individuals.

A 12-night visit to the exclusive festival for four people, including film passes, VIP event tickets, superyacht charter, private jet charter from London, luxury food and Champagne bills, would cost at least £340,733 according to specialist insurance provider, Insure4Boats

The Cannes Film Festival is synonymous with glamour and luxury, attracting a global audience of privileged individuals to match. Last year, 640 yachts berthed at Cannes Old Town, with the largest a huge 97m in length.

While film lovers on a budget can join the crowds of celebrity-spotters for free, high-profile visitors will spend significantly more to ensure their superyacht is the ultimate after-party destination for actors, artists, and models alike.

With stars such as Johnny Depp, Natalie Portman and Julianne Moore already confirmed to attend this year’s event, there will be plenty of A-listers to rub shoulders with. However, with the average superyacht charter costing more than £70,000 per week, this doesn’t come cheap.

Additionally, the cost of VIP tickets to key black-tie events of the festival, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, and the celebrity-strewn Vanity Fair Party, are equally as pricey. Balcony seats at the two former come in at £50,000 for four people, while Vanity Fair entry costs £36,000.

And, of course, Official Film Festival Credentials are a must – at £5,400 per person. And that’s before you even factor in any additional expenses.

John Woosey, Founder of Insure4Boats, commented: “For the super-rich, there’s no other way to visit Cannes than onboard a superyacht – and as these figures show, you’ll need serious cash to do so. Our total calculation for the trip is eye-watering sum of more than £340,000, but that is a conservative estimate.

“Additional excursions to neighbouring Monaco or Nice, shopping trips, casino visits and entry to further events will of course all cost far more. It’s the kind of luxury most of us could never even dream of!”
