Dogs Trust, the UK’s leading dog welfare charity, is joining the nationwide celebration of Volunteers Week by calling on more people to consider volunteering at its rehoming centres in Cardiff and Bridgend. This week-long campaign, which runs June 1st -7th, aims to recognise and appreciate the invaluable contributions of volunteers and inspire others to make a difference in their communities.

Dogs Trust Rehoming Centres in Cardiff and Bridgend provide a safe and loving environment for dogs who have experienced abandonment, neglect, or mistreatment. Volunteers play a crucial role in the welfare and well-being of these vulnerable animals, and the charity is urgently seeking passionate individuals to join its dedicated team.

By becoming a volunteer at Dogs Trust, you will have the opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on the lives of these deserving dogs. Whether it’s taking them for walks, providing socialisation and companionship, or assisting with daily care routines, your involvement will make a world of difference.

Additionally, Dogs Trust is also appealing for additional volunteer fosterers to play a crucial role in enhancing the adoption prospects of vulnerable dogs. By becoming a volunteer fosterer, you can open your home to a dog in need, providing a temporary haven and helping them develop essential life skills. This vital role not only prepares dogs for their forever homes but also gives them a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of the rehoming centre.

One of Dogs Trust Cardiff’s current volunteers, Sue Taylor, shared their experience:

“Volunteering at Dogs Trust Cardiff has been incredibly fulfilling. Each day, I have the chance to witness the transformation of these dogs, knowing that I played a part in their journey towards a loving home. The joy and gratitude they express is truly heart-warming. Whether you can spare a few hours or commit to a regular schedule, your contribution will make a significant impact.”

Volunteers Week is the perfect time to discover the rewards of volunteering and contribute to the welfare of animals in need. Dogs Trust warmly welcomes individuals from all walks of life, aged 18 and over, to join its volunteer family and make a lasting difference in the lives of these deserving dogs.
