Lovell Homes to host mortgage advice weekend at Newport development

Leading partnerships developer Lovell Homes is hosting a free mortgage advice weekend at its  Locke Gardens development in Llanwern, Newport, on Saturday 10^th and Sunday 11^th June.

Locke Gardens is a stylish collection of 286 two, three and four-bedroom homes, situated off Baldwin Drive on the former Llanwern steelworks in Glan Llyn.

During the event, which is running from 10am to 5pm, potential homebuyers will be able to find out more about the homes on offer and get independent advice from mortgage experts ABP Mortgages, including specific advice on the Help to Buy Wales scheme, information on how to prepare their finances ahead of applying for a mortgage, and answers to questions about incentives and buying options.

From 1^st April 2023, the Help to Buy Wales price cap was increased from £250,000 to £300,000, meaning that a selection of the three-bedroom homes at Locke Gardens are eligible for the scheme.

Help to Buy Wales is designed to make the homebuying process as easy as possible and is not restricted to first-time buyers, meaning all purchasers looking to move to a brand-new home are provided with support.

The scheme enables buyers to purchase a new build property with just a five per cent deposit. The remainder is made up from a 75 per cent mortgage and a 20 per cent equity loan, which is interest free for the first five years.

Locke Gardens is being delivered by Lovell in partnership with Pobl. The development will consist of 500 properties, including 285 open market sale homes, 80 affordable homes and 135 shared ownership properties.

The development is part of Glan Llyn – a residential-led development being delivered by St Modwen. The £1 billion regeneration project is transforming the 600-acre brownfield site and creating a major new vibrant community for South Wales, with a total of 4,000 new homes being delivered alongside community infrastructure and green, open space.
