Father and daughter Geoffrey Eynon and Angharad Smiriglia are walking 175 miles to raise funds for Pembrokeshire Cancer Services.
The pair will be walking for 70 days on the lead up to Geoffrey’s 70th birthday to commemorate the important milestone.
10 years ago, Geoffrey was diagnosed with chordoma, a very rare type of bone cancer that affects one in 800,000 people every year.
Geoffrey said: “After various Hospital consultations, scans and biopsies, it was decided to remove the tumor by excision. Thankfully I made a full recovery following the surgery and have remained free of the disease for 10 years.”
Angharad said: “We hold Withybush cancer services very close to our hearts for the care and support they have given our loved ones at various times over the years.
“This is our way of giving something back to these local, vital services whilst celebrating two big milestones for Dad, his 70th Birthday and being free from bone cancer for 10 years.”
Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official NHS charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We would like to say a big thank you and good luck to Geoffrey and Angharad. The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide, and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
