From 3rd â 6th August 2023, the planetâs âgreenestâ festival, The Green Gathering, will be showcasing better, kinder ways of organising our world, all set against the stunning backdrop of Piercefield Park, near Chepstow.
âChanging how we do things is essential when faced with the climate emergency, financial hardship and social division.â At The Green Gathering, festival-goers will find campaigns, speakers, engineers, craftsfolk and veteran protestors sharing the practical skills and factual knowledge needed to build resilience and foster progressâŠ. all sandwiched between the festivalâs entertainment and relaxation venues. Â
âWhen we step out of the mainstream and wind down in a safe and beautiful space, barriers drop away, minds and hearts open.â In The Forum, Campaigns Field, Resource Hub, Craft Island and Radical Flank, visitors will find skills and ideas by the bucket load.
The Campaigns Field is the centre of politics and protest at The Green Gathering, raising awareness around social and environmental justice issues and giving attendees the opportunity to network and get involved. Every day is jam packed with diverse discussions and workshops. The Speakersâ Forum and Radical Cinema occupy a corner of the field, offering fresh perspectives, debate and indie films. Â
Planet Saving ReduxÂ
A different kind of line up for the 2023 Green Gathering, just as important as the entertainment, this year the festival is rolling all itsâ waste reduction initiatives into one big planet-saving redux. Â
Hereâs how festival-goers can participate in the project – dress to âthe ninesâ but buy nothing new and âbring your own mugâ and slash the waste involved in single use paper cups. No need to bring plates and cutlery, Crock ân Rock provides a plate and cutlery service – just pay a deposit, grab some crocks and then rock around the cafes. Then return the serveware and the Crock ân Rock crew will do the washing up.
For wombles and waste geeks, Cleanstream in the Campaigns Field is a must. Here visitors can make waterproof signs from plastic bottle tops, turn tetrapaks into purses, create water saving âtip-tapsâ for handwashing and much more.
âAn absolute delight on all levels – met so many wonderful people, educated myself on environmental campaigns, danced like a loon, happily wandered aroundâŠ. what bliss – you smashed it. 2022 Green Gatherer
