Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service joined the colourful Llanelli Pride celebrations on Saturday, July 15th.
Equality, diversity and inclusion is at the heart of what Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) does and are values which sit at the core of our organisational processes, practices and culture. Therefore, it was a pleasure to support and attend the annual Llanelli Pride celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, which included a parade through the town centre as well as a variety of activities, stands and entertainment at the Selwyn Samuel Centre.
Forming part of the Llanelli Pride Parade was MAWWFRS’s Pride Fire Engine, a colourful member of the Service’s training fleet, joined by members of the Community Safety Team. Despite the torrential rain, everyone taking part in the parade had a smile on their faces while waving their MAWWFRS rainbow flags.
Following the parade, members of the Service’s Community Safety Team and Llanelli Fire Station crew were on hand at their stand in the Selwyn Samuel Centre to offer fire safety advice and information, plus MAWWFRS Pride merchandise.
As well as members of the Llanelli community, the team also had the opportunity to welcome Llanelli Town Mayor, Councillor Nicholas Pearce, to their stand.
