Following confirmation from the Home Office that asylum seeking families will move in to Stradey Park Hotel in a phased approach over the coming weeks, Dyfed-Powys Police is keen to continue the productive working relationship officers have fostered with community protest groups, to ensure a smooth transition for all parties.

We understand the strength of feeling within the local and wider community and take their concerns very seriously.

The aim of the policing operation is to provide a policing response, in conjunction with partners, which effectively manages any community tensions and balances the rights of all who are affected by the use of the hotel to house asylum seekers.

Where officers are at the scene, their presence aims to facilitate peaceful protest, continue engagement and dialogue with all parties, and offer reassurance to the community, however where an offence is committed, we will take all reasonable and proportionate steps to bring offenders to justice.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have demonstrated peacefully over the past few weeks and urge anyone planning to join the protest to follow the example that has been set by local residents.

If you are planning a protest we would encourage you to contact us via our website https://orlo.uk/0CJ3p, email 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk or call 101 so we can help facilitate a peaceful protest.

  1. Garath Williams that’s what I am thinking. Just been in New York. And the people are asking the same. New York got the same thing happening there Who are these men who
Are coming here. ? And all over the world. Does anyone know. Terrorists. Who knows

  2. They can’t even come to the north dock and control the cars speeding and racing until 2 am. And card exhausts backfiring all night People have their views on this but nothing gets taken into consideration. Looks like the mps will loose their seats in the next election.

  3. Why don’t the police give us the dates they are moving ILLEGALS in,So we can mobilise, instead of asking us when we are going to protest,so they can mobilise

  4. Goverment is as corrupt as they come instead of paying tens of thousands to shelter illegal immirgrants put them on a boat and send them back. Why not try and help the british first there are millions in poverty because they want to squeeze everyone to breaking point and also thousands of homeless living on the streets try looking out for and helping our home nations first

  5. SHAME ON YOU SOUTH WALES POLICE. . . This will be like the miners strike of years gone by,when Welsh police fought with Welsh miners doing the bidding of government masters against the people of wales

  6. Doesn’t that idiot in the Senedd realise that 95 people have lost their jobs with these illegal immigrants moving into this hotel,Money talks again,

  7. When they get asylum they will settle in the already overstretched area, and bring their extended families over. It’s not just the hotel. its the after demands.

  8. Once again the people of Llanelli are being told to put up and shut up. May be we should all with hold our council tax and the percentage that goes to the police if its going to be used against us.

  9. Kath Jones As Enoch Powell said all those years ago about rivers of blood unfortunately it is very likely to happen now and I hope Llanelli is not the first town that suffers

  10. They are not taking into account the feeling of the community of Llanelli or surrounding areas . This area is already full of poverty,it is affecting a wider area,it has put an even bigger strain on all our services and it’s only going to get worse .

    • Vanessa Phillips I reported drug dealing and they’ll they turned up a month later we got no hope tbh

    • Rhian Jones ring 999 not 101 It creates a high something zone and then the police put a presence there if no one reports they don’t class it as a problem area . We had problems in Swansea by the shop and still do but I just ring 999 now what they said it everyone is complaining but we only had 5 calls whereas sketty got 39 so sketty get the police presence so we all ring now . So anything suspicious ring 999 and say you feel harassed, afraid and something else I’ll find out now from staff what they told us to say to ensure that they have to come

    • Vanessa Phillips Agreed, phoning 101 is a waste of time,as is reporting via the website. 101 is effectively a triage system which just makes sure boxes are ticked!!!

    • Meirion Jones yes we ring 999 and use those words now and get instant response which you need when people off their face on god knows what are fighting by the bus depot in Swansea it’s terrifying for the elderly there

    • Meirion Jones you’ll be lucky if they answer 101 after listening to 50 tunes u just give up

    • Karen Watson I don’t bother now I ring 999 by the time 101
Answer or the rangers come round they would have killed each other or someone else

  11. ‘Dyfed-Powys Police is keen to continue the productive working relationship officers have fostered with community protest groups,to ensure a smooth transition for all parties.’

They haven’t had a productive working with the protestors, look for the video when a Pembs. Inspector manhandled a female. Disgusting.

    • Colin Jones this is why they are called police force as they like to force there way on to the people that pay there wages

    • Having witnessed a number of highly concerning videos coming out of Ireland re the migrants over the past few weeks I am extremely concerned for the safety of all parties especially the local residents. (imo) it is likely there will be a high number of Muslims and therefore possibly those who subscribe to Sharia Law. I hope the Police are ready, because, and I really hope I am wrong, but I can only forsee trouble and I pray that we do not see the levels of violence that is currently in Ireland. I am terrified for the elderly, and children. I have heard rumours of those already carrying items for ‘self defence’. Given Dyfed Powys Police cover a huge expanse with a very small force (number) I do not see that they can possibly continue to Police to the levels needed which often means only one thing, the law being taken into own hands. This isn’t anti Police, but I just can’t see how they can cope.

    • Kath Jones the Police Commissioner told the Home Office a few weeks ago that policing the SPH is not sustainable.

    • Colin Jones it’s extremely worrying, actually terrifying for me,as I spent time as a child in a Muslim country and women are nothing, often abused at every level.

    • Kath Jones obviously they have a different culture, and treat females of all ages with contempt. This is going to change our lives when they come.
And some think it’s only the furnace area, dream on.
One example is the cycle track, takes you to Felinfoel and Five Roads. The other way takes you to North Dock,Seaside,Pwll and Burry Port

    • Colin Jones anyone thinking they’ll ‘stay’in the immediate area is quite frankly deluded! It’s without question they will roam and to be fair what is there for them in Furnace, its not London, there are no facilities,so naturally they will find something to do. Also using Oxford as an example something like 200 immigrants have ‘vanished’whereabouts currently unknown. I believe it won’t just affect the local area but County wide across Wales.

    • Kath Jones and another thing is that they can stay out all night.

The advice to them is:‘They’re recommended to go back by 11pm.’
