Joshua & Whyte are past their bests, but Joshua will win

Joshua v Whyte 2 lights up the o2 in two weeks time & George Groves gives a stark assessment of the two British heavyweights;

“I think Joshua beats him {Whyte}. AJ’s in slightly better form right now. To be honest I think both guys are past their best now but seeing heavyweights in action is always good from a fan’s point of view. I think it will be a good fight and I think Joshua wins.”

Unification! Fury needs to fight winner of Usyk v Dubois

The announcement of Fury v Ngannou shocked the boxing world, leaving fans frustrated at ‘The Gypsy King’ for not attempting to unify the heavyweight division. Groves echoed this outrage, calling on Tyson to face the winner of Usyk v Dubois after October’s exhibition fight;

“Fury’s fighting in an exhibition match but we want to see all the belts contested for which means he’s got to fight the winner of Oleksander Usyk and Daniel Dubois.”

I don’t give Ngannou a chance against Fury

Speculating on how the fight between the two heavyweights plays out in October, Groves doesn’t give the former UFC champion much of a shot against ‘The Gypsy King’;

“I think it’s interesting enough. I don’t really give the UFC guy Ngannou much of a chance in a boxing ring but each to their own. If it sells, maybe it’s new eyeballs on boxing and new eyeballs on the UFC.”

Groves vs influencer: “Never say never”

Nate Diaz v Jake Paul is just days away, and when quizzed on whether Groves himself would return to the boxing ring to fight an influencer, he responded;

“Never say never but hopefully I’m not of that standard yet where I’d have to drop down to influencer level!”

Trans boxing doesn’t make sense

The issue of trans female fighters being able to compete against biological females is hotly contested. When asked about his stance on the subject, George Groves gave a frank response;

“I don’t think it makes much sense {trans women fighting biological women}. No, not for me.”
