Theatrau Sir Gâr hosts the ‘Battle of The Bard’ at Pembrey Country Park this summer

Theatrau Sir Gâr will be setting up stage at Pembrey Country Park this August for a season of outdoor events and will welcome a farcical piece of new writing from award-winning playwright Michael Davies, exploring the genius of Shakespeare. Heartbreak Productions’ MacHamLear will take to the stage on Monday 21st August at 7pm.

MacHamLear will be a unique experiment that will answer the question keeping literary scholars up at night… which play is the best the Bard has to offer? The audience will get the chance to decide by being part of an exciting, new theatre competition, Will of the People. In Round One, MacbethHamlet, and King Lear will be pitted against each other, as the actors make their case for why their tragedy should be performed, to win a place in the next round of the competition. The three iconic plays will be performed in the open air, so it will be an opportunity for the audience to experience Shakespeare’s classic works with a picnic in the beautiful surroundings of Pembrey Country Park.

Heartbreak Productions is now in its 31st year of bringing unique outdoor theatre experiences to audiences across the UK, performing familiar British classics in unexpected, picturesque settings.

Tickets for MacHamLear are priced at £15, £12 (concessions) and £48 (family of four) and can be booked online at www.theatrausirgar.co.uk or with the box office on 0345 2263510, between 10am and 3pm, Tuesday to Saturday.
