The Aloud Charity is delighted to announce the launch of an Only Girls Aloud choir in West
Wales!
Building on the success of our Only Girls Aloud choir in South Wales, young people in years
7 to 13 will have the opportunity to make new friends, develop their singing skills, and take part in unique performance opportunities!
“We are so excited to launch Only Girls Aloud in West Wales and provide more young
people with the opportunity to connect and engage with others whilst developing their
singing skills and confidence. Only Girls Aloud in West Wales will provide a safe, friendly
space for young women to express themselves freely alongside unique performance
opportunities they may not otherwise have the chance to be involved in. The most exciting
part is that as a new project the founding members of Only Girls Aloud West have the
chance to shape the future of the choir.” Beth Jenkins, Project Manager: West Wales
Rehearsals will take place once a month during term time with our first rehearsal scheduled for the 1st of October in Llangrannog. The meeting location and choir will vary from month to month to accommodate members travelling from across West Wales.
Only Girls Aloud West Wales members will have a range of opportunities to perform
including at Aloud concerts and external events and festivals.
To give a taste of things to come, our South Wales Only Girls Aloud choir achieved the
following in their first year:
• Recorded tracks for the 2022 Aloud Album Gen Z
• Featured on Aloud’s S4C Documentary Aloud Dathlu 10
• Performed in St David’s Hall for the charity’s Anniversary Concert
• Recorded a concert at Brecon Cathedral for our Christmas broadcast
• Performed for guests at our bi-annual Fundraising Dinner at Royal Welsh College
of Music and Drama.
• Performed at the Dinas Powys Music Festival
• Performed at the Everywoman Festival – visit our Instragram page to see them in
action!
“We are thrilled to be able to bring our Only Girls Aloud choir to West Wales. Following a
successful pilot in South Wales, we are very much looking forward to expanding our work
with teenage girls, and, with so much interest from young people in West Wales, it felt like
the next natural step for us. I look forward to seeing how this develops over the next few
years, particularly how we can make a positive impact on the lives of young people through group singing” Carys Wynne-Morgan, Chief Executive.
