‘Mentro’ Initiative
An opportunity to venture into business through Llwyddo’n Lleol 2050
Llwyddo’n Lleol 2050 has launched a unique opportunity for 24 young people to join a 10 week business training programme.
The opportunity is part of the ‘Mentro’ Initiative of Llwyddo’n Lleol 2050 and they are calling on young people aged 18-35 in the ARFOR area (the counties of Cardiganshire, Ceredigion, Gwynedd and Anglesey) who would like to start a business or have established a business over the past two years and wish to further develop their business, to apply for this unique opportunity.
The successful applicants will receive weekly sessions with business experts on a wide range of topics, including marketing, managing finances and attracting customers. As well as specialist support, participants will receive £1,000 financial support to develop their business idea.
There will also be an additional opportunity for one individual from each cohort to win a further £1,000 in a competition at the end of the training programme, when individuals will be presenting their business idea to a panel of adjudicators, with the winner receiving the additional financial award.
By participating in the sessions, they will have the opportunity to develop a network of young intrepreneurs, enabling them to share ideas and challenges, and make connections across the region.
According to Aled Pritchard, a Llwyddo’n Lleol officer: “Llwyddo’n Lleol, under the ARFOR 1 scheme, has already supported several individuals from Gwynedd and Anglesey to succeed on a local level and establish a business. And I’m very excited that, under ARFOR 2, we are able to invite young people from Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, as well as Gwynedd and Anglesey, to take advantage of this opportunity.
“We will be urging anyone who is interested in establishing a business or developing a new business to apply. Whether it’s a small-scale or large-scale idea, go for it!”
Jade Owen, Llwyddo’n Lleol 2050 Project Manager added: “One of the aims of the project is to convince young people and young families that they can have a bright future, with a good job in an exciting field, within their local communities.
“This opportunity is a way of providing young people with the chance to experiment with entrepreneurship and develop skills that will give them the confidence to start a business, and thrive within their local areas.”
This is the first application window of the ‘Mentro’ Initiative and the window will be open between 20th September and 1st October.
Before completing the application form applicants are urged to learn more about the opportunity and the requirements by reading the guidelines provided here.
