Following the appointment of Matthew Richards Colin Haig and Simon Monks, of Azets, over Burry Port Marina Ltd on 7 June 2023, the Administrators continue to operate the marina whilst options for its future are considered.

Discussions have been ongoing with various stakeholders to consider what priority remedial works need to take place at the marina and what further works will be required to ensure the long term viability of the marina.

The administrators have been working with Carmarthenshire County Council over the last few months, who have been very supportive of the administration process, and are assisting in the search for a stable operator for the future.

Cllr. Hazel Evans, Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism said:

As a Local Authority, we are committed to finding a long term, sustainable future for Burry Port Harbour and we are working closely with the Administrators to progress matters. Regular dialogue will be maintained with representatives from the local community and other key stakeholders to update on the progress in relation to the Harbour.”

Matthew Richards, Restructuring Partner with Azets and joint administrator, commented:

We are continuing to work with Carmarthenshire County Council to find a solution for the marina and all options are being considered. Unfortunately there does not appear to be a quick fix to the situation and it is likely that this process will continue into 2024.The  continued cooperation of all stakeholders is appreciated.”
