TikTokers share their tips for surviving the corporate world (lifestyle)

  • Professionals share their tips on how to navigate corporate life when starting off your career.
  • Tips include creating a positive email folder, to making new talking points with your colleagues.

It can be easy for corporate life to seem hectic and stressful when starting a new job, but taking care of your wellbeing should always be priority.

A study by Perkbox revealed that 75% of people feel stressed at work1, and so more and more people are looking for ways to have a better work-life-balance, as well as keeping motivated throughout the day.

In light of this, experts at life insurance brokers, Reassured, have found some of the best wellbeing hacks from professionals on TikTok to help both new starters and long-term employees survive corporate life.

1. Start a secret drawer club

For those who don’t know, a secret drawer club is a space where you and some trusted colleagues can leave custom figurines, trinkets, and decorative pieces in your own little whimsical space.

A secret drawer can be a way to boost your and your colleague’s mood, and a way to make ownership of your space in the work space, in a subtle way.

2. Learn some niche skills

A great way to create a talking point with new people is to talk about a unique skill you have. So, if you’ve got five minutes between meetings, you can use that time to practice a simple skill that interests you such as drawing, playing the flute, or solving a Rubik’s cube in under a minute.

3. Make a positive email folder

Some days can be harder than others in the corporate world, so a great way to keep yourself positive is creating a positive email folder. Every time you receive a shout out or something that you’re proud off add it into the folder. This will not only give you a mood boost but will also act as a reminder that you’re an important and valued part of your team and company.

4. Give praise to your colleagues

Most people thrive when getting praised for their hard work, so make sure next time you notice your colleague has achieved something, tell them and spread some positivity.

5. Decorate your office for different seasons

If it’s possible, decorate your office for each season. Pumpkins for Halloween, holly and some tinsel for Christmas and flowers for Summer.

And if you can’t directly decorate your office, that’s when the secret drawer comes in handy.
