Fundraiser to take on 14 marathons in 14 days for chemo unit

Samantha Lewis of Burry Port will be running an incredible 14 marathons in 14 days to raise funds for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Phillip Hospital.

The challenge will start on 7th April 2024 at the Brighton Marathon. Samantha will then stay overnight, run another marathon in the morning and head back to Burry Port to do the remaining 12.

Samantha said: “I decided to run 14 marathons in 14 days because my husband’s long-time friend, Wayne Evans, was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.

“Wayne sadly passed away this year and received care at the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Prince Phillip Hospital.

“My running coach, Gary Howells, is helping me keep on track and makes sure I’m doing everything possible to get me ready for the challenge. Training consists of very early morning starts so I can run before work.

“Training is hard and time consuming but it’s nothing compared to the battle cancer patients face. If there’s one thing I teach my son it is to be kind, think of others, do for others and give back when you can. We can kick cancer’s butt together!”
