Recently in the Senedd, the leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats Jane Dodds has called for Senedd staff to be trained in tackling sexual violence.

There were 193,06 recorded offences of sexual violence related offences in England and Wales in the year ending June 2023.

Now the Welsh Liberal Democrats are calling for comprehensive training across all public sectors on combating sexual violence.

Commenting, Jane Dodds MS said:

“As the leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, I am saying that enough is enough and it’s time we take a stance against sexual violence in Wales.

Staff across all public sectors, including in the Senedd, must be trained in combating this crime.

As a former social worker, myself, I am all too aware of the serious impact that this sort of crime can have on victims and their families.

We in the Senedd must lead by example and undergo our own training, and by doing so we would be taking a step in the right direction in combating this horrendous crime.”

Mrs Dodds was a social worker for 25 years before entering politics.
