The West Lothian actor has starred in the highest number of Doctor Who episodes, with a staggering 47 appearances in total across several series. This includes his return for the 50th anniversary and several special episodes between 2008 and 2010. Fan favourite Welsh screenwriter, Russell T. Tennant is set to reprise the role of The Doctor for a three-part special in November, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the show. He is expected to regenerate into the show’s 15th Doctor, who will be played by Sex Education star, Ncuti Gatwa, and will lead the series from December.

Which is the best rated series of Doctor Who?
Since 2005, when Doctor Who was relaunched, Series 4 received the highest average episode rating with 8.35 out of 10. The series, which aired on the BBC in 2008, starred David Tennant as the 10th Doctor alongside Catherine Tate as his main companion, Donna Noble. Both actors will reprise their roles for the three-part 60th anniversary special, ahead of Ncuti Gatwa’s series.
Series 5, which aired throughout 2010, has the second highest average episode rating of 8.08 out of 10. This was Matt Smith’s debut series as The Doctor, and starred companion Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan, alongside appearances from River Song (Alex Kingston) and Rory Williams (Arthur Darvill). This series gave new fans an introduction to the franchise, without needing to catch up on the long history of previous Doctors.
Series 3 shares third place for the highest average rating with 8.05 out of 10. Airing in 2007, David Tennant’s Doctor was joined by Martha Jones, a new companion played by Freema Agyeman. This series featured the return of prominent characters from earlier series, including Captain Jack Harkness (John Barrowman) and The Master (John Simm).
Series 9 also received 8.05 out of 10 and starred Peter Capaldi in his second outing as The Doctor. The series, which ran throughout 2015, featured companion Clara Oswald, played by Jenna Coleman. Series 9 ended with Coleman’s departure from the show after three series, with the Doctor losing his memories of her in the finale episode.
Series 1 has the fourth highest average rating with 7.91 out of 10. Airing in March 2005, this was the return of the Doctor Who franchise after a 16-year long hiatus. Audiences were introduced to Christopher Eccleston as the ninth consecutive Doctor alongside companion Rose Tyler, played by Billie Piper. While Eccleston only played the Time Lord for one series, Piper continued the role into the next series alongside David Tennant.
Over 800 episodes of Doctor Who will be coming to BBC iPlayer on November 1st ahead of the new series, along with an eventual presence on Disney+ for viewers outside of the UK.

A spokesman for OnlineCasinos365 commented:
“Considering how popular David Tennant’s portrayal of The Doctor was with fans, it is no surprise that he was asked to return for the 60th anniversary special episodes.
“While Tennant is set to star as the Time Lord for just three episodes, his appearance, combined with returning fan favourite screenwriter Russell T. Davies, is sure to bring back older viewers looking for a hit of childhood nostalgia.
“The show’s companions have become almost as iconic as The Doctor himself. Given Tate and Tennant’s fantastic on-screen chemistry throughout Series 4, the actress was an obvious pick, to reprise her role for the 60th anniversary specials.”
