To determine the rankings, Live Football Tickets used Chrome’s Colour Picker to collect the main colours of each team’s kits from the 22/23 European leagues, and looked at their league placements as well as goals scored per team to get a better understanding of each team’s success. Results were aggravated by colour and average scores were taken.

Colour theory predicts Premier League Boxing Day winners

  1. Newcastle United v Nottingham Forest

The match between Newcastle and Nottingham Forest will kick off at St. James’ Park at 12:30pm.

According to the colour study conducted by Live Football Tickets, black (won by Newcastle United) ranks second with a total success score of 12.3/20 after considering the league placement and the number of goals by twenty European clubs who wore this colour. The most popular kit colour in Europe, red (worn by Nottingham Forest) scores 11.4/20 and takes third spot.

This predicts that Newcastle United is more likely to get their three points at home as black beats red to be the second luckiest kit colour in Europe.

  1. Burnley v Liverpool

Burnley will host Liverpool at Turf Moor on Boxing Day 17:30pm.

Red (worn by Liverpool), as the most popular kit colour in Europe (37 teams), ranks third as the most successful kit colour to wear with a total success score of 11.4/20. In comparison, dark red (worn by Burnley) places fifth with a total success score of 10.1/20.

This predicts a loss for Burnley at home while Liverpool challenges for the title.

  1. Manchester United v Aston Villa

Manchester United will face Aston Villa at home on Boxing Day evening 20:00 pm.

Aston Villa’s home kit colour, dark red, ranks only fifth as the luckiest kit colour in football, while the Red Devil’s colour ranks third.

The colour study suggests that it will be challenging for Aston Villa to win any points at Old Trafford despite their promising start to this season.
