CETMA have launched a project called Wellbeing Walks as part of their Don’t Panic Support Group. This project is funded by Connecting Carmarthenshire and the project will consist of group walks around different areas in Carmarthenshire this Winter.

The Don’t Panic Support Group is for anyone suffering from stress, anxiety and depression, with everyone involved in organising having experienced mental health problems.  Also the walks will be risked assessed, run by DBS checked walk leaders, disabled friendly and will be suitable for people from all walks of life. Children and dogs are also able to attend!

Project Officer Orianna Evans has said:

“We want this project to encourage people to get out of the house and socialise this Winter. We understand that Winter can be hard for a lot of people for a multitude of reasons however, we hope that this project can help improve people’s wellbeing.”

“These walks will be a safe space for anyone to join”.

Not only are walks taking place but the Don’t Panic Group’s regular coffee mornings will be held in Llanelli and Kidwelly.

“Walking can help reduce anxiety, depression, and a negative mood. It can also help with people’s self-esteem and reduce symptoms of social withdrawal. We want these walks to not be focused on the walk itself but on the wellbeing that the walk can give people.”

“Even if you aren’t the biggest fan of walking come and join us for a wonderful time in nature.” Added Orianna.

The project is running until March 2024 and anyone interested can contact Orianna via email at oevans@cetma.org.uk, ring 01554556996, choose Kidwelly or like and follow https://www.facebook.com/DontPanicLlanelli.
