The island’s privileged natural setting makes it the perfect place for a wide range of sports year-round. Cycling, running, and nautical events are just a few of the activities that make Mallorca an ideal destination for active tourism. 

Mallorca’s climate, landscapes, and terrain attract more and more people every year to engage in the sports that the island has to offer. Sports tourism is evident in Mallorca, emphasising its reputation as an international sports destination. Throughout the year, visitors can enjoy a full calendar of events across different sporting activities.

Cycling: 

Mallorca is renowned for its cycling routes, with more than two thousand kilometres of roads and local paths on the island to explore by bike. 

The Mallorca 312 is one of Mallorca’s most prestigious cycling events, offering routes of 312, 255, and 167 kilometres. These routes showcase the stunning scenery of the UNESCO-listed Serra de Tramuntana and the natural landscapes of northern Mallorca.

The 33rd edition of the Challenge Ciclista de Mallorca, held in various municipalities, is a symbol of the prevalence of cycling on the island, honouring participants in a number of different áreas.

Running: 

Mallorca also caters to activities like running, with a number of routes and events in the 2024 calendar. The Serra de Tramuntana landscape challenges runners in the annual Galatzó Trail in Calviá, featuring races of 42 and 21 kilometres amidst oak forests, streams, and cliffs overlooking the Mediterranean.

The Mallorca Marathon in Palma allows participants to enjoy the capital’s landmarks, attracting international athletes each year.

Triathlon: 

Mallorca also hosts world-renowned events in sports, such as the Challenge Peguera Mallorca, recognised as the best race of the year in 2022 by the Challenge Family Race Awards. Participants can enjoy a triathlon program and a full calendar of activities, including concerts and gastronomic events.

The Triatlón Portocolom, held in the town of Portocolom, combines swimming, cycling, and a run through the old town.

Nautical: 

The bay of Palma hosts various nautical events, such as the Trofeo Ciutat de Palma, a top-level international sailing competition with over 600 participants. Another prestigious event is the Copa del Rey, a cruiser regatta that attracts nautical enthusiasts every summer.
