South Wales’ largest housebuilder Persimmon have become the proud sponsors of the Women’s U18s team for the 2024 campaign.
The Persimmon logo will be emblazoned across the front of the Scarlets’ jerseys for all the matches in the Regional Age-Grade Championship over the coming weeks.
Scarlets Women’s U18s captain Rhiannon Griffin and Scarlets women’s programme lead Rhodri Jones visited Persimmon’s West Wales regional headquarters in Penllergaer this week to meet Managing Director Stuart Phillips and the team to thank them for their support.
“We are delighted that Persimmon have shown their support of the women’s team. Women’s rugby in Wales is taking some big steps and we have seen a number of players from our Scarlets U18s go on to represent the Wales senior rugby team.
“We are thrilled to have such a respected South Wales business give their backing to the team at such an exciting time in the girls’ development.”
Persimmon West Wales Managing Director Stuart Phillips said:
“We are delighted to join forces with the Scarlets by supporting the Women’s U18s team this season. The Scarlets hold a special place in the lives of many in West Wales, serving as a unifying force that brings people together.
“Our Community Champions initiative is all about supporting worthwhile causes in the communities where we build, and with our significant presence across West Wales, we’re delighted to be able to back the talented Women’s U18s team.
“Women and girls rugby continues to go from strength to strength and it’s fantastic to see our national game inspiring new talent to take up the sport, which will only serve to foster a sense of togetherness that extends beyond the rugby pitch.
“Llanelli and the surrounding areas have a rich rugby heritage across the region and we hope our support will go some way to help them continue their excellent work developing the pathway of Welsh female rugby talent.”
