A group of fundraisers braved the annual Walrus Dip to raise funds for the Prince Philip Gardens Appeal.
The Appeal aims to raise £100,000 to create two new theraeutic gardens at the hospital.
The 36th Annual Pembrey Country Park Walrus Dip took place on Boxing Day on Cefn Sidan Beach.
Hundreds of people gathered on the beach to take a dip in the sea for causes close to their hearts, with most donning fancy dress and colourful Christmas costumes.
Claire Rumble, Fundraising Officer for Hywel Dda Health Charities, got into the Appeal spirit by dressing up as a bee.
The bee appears in the Appeal logo as a symbol of community and regeneration.
Claire said: “We all had a fantastic morning. Luckily it wasn’t too cold, and we got through it knowing we were doing it for such a great cause.”
Claire was accompanied by staff from Mynydd Mawr, a 15-bed elderly care rehabilitation unit, which is one of two wards which will benefit from the new gardens.
The ward has access to an enclosed outdoor space but it is currently not in use and is not suitable for patients.
Tom James, Family Liaison Officer for Mynydd Mawr Ward, said: “I am taking part in a few events to help raise the money towards the garden on the grounds of Mynydd Mawr which will help benefit the patients in so many ways.
“I took part in the Walrus Dip which was great fun, and I’ll also be taking part in a charity sky dive.”
Katrina Williams, Health Care Support Worker, is also taking part in a number of events to help reach the £100,000 target.
Katrina said: “I am going to brave a charity sky dive, and I’ll be helping organise a number of different events with proceeds going towards the Appeal.
“The gardens are especially important to our patients who spend long amounts of time in hospital. The gardens will help rehabilitate them and support them to get back on their feet.”
