A brand-new study released by CasinoUS reveals the most popular video games worldwide.
The experts have looked at the top best-selling games of 2023 and analysed each of its Twitch followers and average global Google monthly search volume to reveal their popularity ranking.
Taking each game’s most up-to-date Twitch followers and average Google monthly search volumes, the index study is weighted by each factor with scoring out of 100.

FIFA 23, released in September 2022, was the most popular game of 2023, scoring, 88.98 out of 100 in the index.
With over 10.3 million units sold, and an estimated $379,356,998.40 in gross revenue since its release, the game has an average 2,391,804 monthly searches worldwide, and around 3,424,159 Twitch followers.
Ranking in second place is Hogwarts Legacy, scoring 87.98 out of 100.
Released on 10th February 2023, as of 5 May 2023, it grossed $1 billion, and 15 million copies were sold globally.
The third most popular game of 2023 is Elden Ring, achieving a score of 80.93 out of 100. It currently has a global average monthly search volume of 3,723,712.
Released on 25th February 2022, 13.4 million copies were sold worldwide by the end of March 2022, and 20 million by February 2023.
Ranking in fourth place is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, released in October 2022. It is estimated that Modern Warfare 2 registered launch sales of a minimum of 8 million copies.
The game currently has a Twitch following of 736,109 and an average 1,879,495 monthly searches worldwide.
Scraping the top five is Starfield, scoring 71.10 out of 100.
The game currently has 113,720 Twitch followers and an average 3,723,712 global monthly Google searches.
A spokesperson for CasinoUS has commented on the study findings:
“Video games always receive a lot of hype ahead of their release, and well-known names like FIFA, Call of Duty and Assassin’s Creed will continue to compete for popularity.
“Football is the most popular sport worldwide, with approximately 3.5 billion fans, therefore it is no surprise that FIFA is the most popular video game.
“Developed by EA Sports, FIFA, now in its 23rd game, stimulates football with realistic graphics, licensed teams, and everyones favourite players. Featuring various game modes, including Career Mode and Ultimate Team.
“Hogwarts Legacy, of course, is also extremely popular. The game is based on the world-famous Harry Potter books, and as of February 2023, the books have sold more than 600 million copies worldwide.
“Hogwarts Legacy provides players with the long-held fantasy of being a student at Hogwarts.
“With over 50 anticipated new video games set for release in 2024, players can prepare for the excitement of more quests, adventures and entertainment.”
