Brits are being told to use houseplants as a natural way to eliminate unwanted odours in the home.

Green-thumbed experts at GardeningExpress.co.uk have revealed the seven houseplants which will remove bad odours and leave a fresh-boosting scent.

he experts say spider plants, peace lilies and aloe vera plants will not only add some greenery to the home but will also absorb any unwanted smells.

They advise placing them around the kitchen and the bathroom where unwanted aromas may be most present.

Humidity levels and the amount of sunlight the plants receive will need to be considered greatly to ensure their survival.

Chris Bonnett, founder of GardeningExpress.co.uk, said: “The last thing anybody wants is to walk in a home and be knocked back by a foul smell in the air.

“Cooking smells from curry and fish can have a pungent smell and be difficult to remove.

“However, incorporating house plants such as spider plants and Jasmine flowers can help provide a fresh, refreshing scent instead.”
