Carmarthenshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Health and Social Services, Cllr. Jane Tremlett welcomed the Deputy Minister for Health and Social Services, Julie Morgan MS to County Hall on Thursday, 1 February, to see the progress of the County Council’s Care Academi, since its launch in 2022.
During her visit, the Deputy Minister heard from the Cabinet Member and officers of the learning and development pathways offered by the Care Academi for those looking for a career in care. The programme allows the trainees to gain an insight into different settings in adult and children’s care and find the right pathway for them.
Trainees will be supported to undertake care qualifications, ultimately being supported to undertake a social work degree or a management qualification depending on the chosen pathway .
Care Academi trainees can also benefit from 10 free hours of driving to help get trainees on the road.
Cllr Jane Tremlett, Cabinet Member for Social Care said: “We were delighted to welcome the Deputy Minister to County Hall to show how Care Academi offers fantastic opportunities to those looking for a career in social work or care.
“Investing in a local, efficient council run service, such as Care Academi, is a key priority for the County Council in order to rebalance the market across all elements of adult and children social care.”
