Walesâs largest walking charity, Ramblers Cymru, have been awarded funding from Carmarthenshire County Councilâs allocation of the UK Governmentâs Shared Prosperity Fund [SPF] as part of its levelling up agenda. This funding will be used to help communities in Carmarthenshire improve their paths and access.
Ramblers Cymru is appealing to Carmarthenshireâs walkers to support our work and join up as path survey volunteers.
Amy Goodwin, Ramblers Cymruâs Regional Officer for Carmarthenshire said:
We are delighted to be working on this project with Carmarthenshire County Council to survey the path network across the county to identify their condition and gather valuable information to deal with issues, making the routes more accessible for more people to enjoy the benefits of the outdoors.
To help us do this we’re looking for the support of volunteers, so if you are passionate about paths and could help us do some surveying, we would love to hear from you.
If you want to get involved with Ramblers Cymru you can respond to our path questionnaire www.ramblers.org.uk/carmspaths or register as a volunteer: www.ramblers.org.uk/carmsvolregister.
Amy added:
Our paths are gateways that connect our communities and help us get out into the natural environment and this work will help put walking at the heart of our communities.

Cllr Hazel Evans, Carmarthenshire County Councilâs Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Leisure, Culture and Tourism said:
I am pleased that Carmarthenshire County Council has been able to award Ramblers Cymru funding through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. It is important to ensure paths can be accessed by everyone in society, I therefore encourage local people to get involved with the volunteering opportunities Ramblers Cymru have offered.
