Thanks to donations, Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, has been able to purchase over £8,000 worth of furniture and appliances for Cilgerran Ward at Glangwili Hospital.

Four new TVs have been purchased with charitable funds, providing a welcome distraction for young patients receiving care and treatment

The NHS charity has also funded a fridge for the staff rest room in Cilgerran, thanks to a donation from the Carmarthen Ukuleles group.

Pat Evans, Member of the Carmarthen Ukuleles, said: “We are a fun group who entertain at various venues but one of our favourite pastimes is to busk and raise money for charity.

“The donation to Cilgerran Ward at Glangwili of a fridge is the result of the generosity of our listeners. The people of Carmarthen and its visitors are very generous when they see us playing at various locations in the town and we thank everyone who has supported us allowing donations like this to be possible. Diolch yn fawr pawb.”

Karen Thomas, Head of Therapeutic Play, said: “It’s fantastic that charitable funds have allowed us to purchase a new fridge and four new TVs for Cilgerran Ward.

“The new equipment will help with patient and staff wellbeing, making it more comfortable and inviting.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
