Wales may be struggling in the Six Nations ahead of their game against Ireland, but Ffos Las Racecourse is celebrating both countries in March.

It’s being billed as a “Massive March” at the West Wales track with two meetings that reflect all the passion of wearing red or green.

On St. David’s Day, March 1, Ffos Las will host its second annual Proud To Be Welsh Race Day.

Welsh harpist Mali Hire

Sponsored by DragonBet, the course will be full of the good things in life if you’re Welsh and it’s springtime.

That means daffodils, Welsh cakes, Bara Brith, choirs of heavenly voices giving live performances before the races, plus Welsh-speaking trackside presenters, and Sian Cothi from BBC Radio Cymru presenting her afternoon show, live from the course.

Welsh competitive pride will be at stake, too.

There will be six races with every jockey either riding for Wales – or for the Rest of the World Team.

Welsh jockeys don’t often get to represent their country, so the contest is likely to be fiercely fought.

If anyone needs inspiration, then they are bound to get it from the two choirs – the amazing Cor Meibion Mynydd Mawr and the sweet-sound of ladies choir, Cor Curiad, with both performing in the bar before the racing.

And no St. David’s Day would be complete without a top notch Welsh harpist, so the brilliant Mali Hire will be playing in Bridles Restaurant.

On March 15, it will be the turn of the Irish to take centre stage at Ffos Las with the DragonBet Bronze Cup Race Day.

The Irish are famous for their takeover at the Cheltenham Festival, but Welsh racing will be throwing open its doors, too.

Just two days before St. Patrick’s Day, Ffos Las will host its Bronze Cup – as opposed to Cheltenham’s Gold Cup – the feature race in a seven-race card.

Instead of paying sky high prices at Cheltenham, Ffos Las race-goes can get the best of both worlds – all the action from Cheltenham on the big screens, but with live racing and regular bar prices.

All the colour and spectacle from Cheltenham will be shown on the screen and to ensure the Irish vibe is also at Ffos Las, there will be music from Irish folk band, The Hat and The Fiddle.

There will be a free sweepstake and entry is only £10.
