Jordan Banjo makes his dance music debut and drops outrageous 2.0 versions of Greensleeves and Yankee Doodle Dandy to celebrate Nestlé’s new range of ice-inspired confectionery
· To celebrate the launch of Nestlé’s new ice cream-inspired confectionery range, Jordan Banjo has remixed two classic ice cream van jingles, transforming them into dancefloor fillers fit for 2024
· Bringing the tracks to life, the new music video shows Jordan share the new versions (and treats) with a host of dancing commuters
· Nestlé has taken some of its best-loved brands – AERO®, MILKYBAR®, MUNCHIES®, and ROWNTREE’S® RANDOMS® – and reimagined them with a nostalgic, ice cream twist
· The new range of sharing bags includes Neapolitan flavour AERO® Melts, Raspberry Ripple flavour MILKYBAR® Buttons, Cookie Dough Ice Cream flavour MUNCHIES®, and Ice Cream shaped ROWNTREE’S® RANDOMS® Foamies
He showed his stellar dancing prowess as part of the hit street dance troupe Diversity, then revealed a canny knack for picking out and playing the latest urban beats on KISS Breakfast… but it turns out Jordan Banjo’s also one seriously mean dance record producer too.
Today, in collaboration with Nestlé Confectionery, he’s released his first EVER dance music tracks – and they’re so unexpected and out there you won’t know where to turn.
Inspired by Nestlé’s new ice cream-inspired range and thoughts of the classic ice cream van jingles, JB has taken on two timeless, meandering ice cream van classics, Greensleeves and Yankee Doodle Dandy, and turned them into thumping, euphoric, beat-laden bangers that just might turn out to be floor-fillers in clubs up and down the country in the very near future.
Available to download from Dropbox now, Greensleeves and Yankee Doodle Dandy 2.0 were mixed in a north London studio and painstakingly crafted over the course of three months. Both tracks feature rousing builds, bass-heavy drops and soaring synths, all cleverly and seamlessly intertwined with the established melody lines that millions of Brits know and love.
But there’s more. With the tracks in the bag, Jordan then took them on the road in his new, hyped-up ice cream van to sample Nestle’s range of nostalgic, ice cream-flavoured treats to commuters in wintery, windswept London, captured in a hilarious new music video.
Jordan pulls up in his ice cream van at a bus stop on a grey day, before delivering colour, beats and an assortment of Nestle’s ice cream-inspired sharing bags to those waiting.
Just as Jordan has reimagined the classic ice cream van and its jingles, Nestlé has taken some of its best-loved brands – AERO®,MILKYBAR®,MUNCHIES®, and ROWNTREE’S® RANDOMS® – and reimagined them with a nostalgic, ice cream flavoured twist.
The new range of sharing bags includes Neapolitan flavour AERO® Melts, Raspberry Ripple flavour MILKYBAR® Buttons, Cookie Dough Ice Cream flavour MUNCHIES®, and Ice Cream shaped ROWNTREE’S® RANDOMS® Foamies.
Jordan said: ‘I’ve always secretly dreamed of being an ice cream man and I’m a massive fan of the old school jingles, but it was time to get creative and playful.
“Those tunes needed a modern upgrade to grab attention, so we’ve dropped some beats and turned them into bangers you can hear coming down the road, and dance along to in the queue.’
Cat Mews, Brand Manager at Nestlé said: “Jordan did an amazing job reimagining the classic ice cream van and its familiar jingles. His creative work compliments what we’ve done by reimagining some of our best-loved products with nostalgic, classic ice cream flavours. Now ice cream fans can have the fresh taste of their favourite flavours all year round, and dance whilst tucking in”.
