Dwsin, a group of 12 women from the Llanelli area who organise events to raise funds for local charities, has raised £2,420 for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Glangwili Hospital.

The group held a vintage afternoon tea on 3rd June 2023 at Llangennech Community Centre in Llanelli to raise the funds.

Fiona Lloyd-Jones, member of Dwsin, said: “We organised a vintage afternoon tea with prosecco during a televised horse racing event.

“It was an excellent day and we had so much fun. We all thoroughly enjoyed it and raised a good amount of money.

“One of our members had a friend whose grandchild had spent some time in the SCBU in Carmarthen and asked that we arrange one of our events to donate to this unit.

“Thank you to all the Dwsin ladies and our supporters.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
