News today has revealed that in the run-up to the Easter holidays, it is expected that we’ll see more cars on the road as many travel for UK getaways or to visit family. For those heading away it could be a good idea to hold off packing the car until leaving, Richard Evans head of technical services at webuyanycar comments:

“The Easter holidays are often the go-to time for family getaways as many people travel to visit family and friends. Our research found that over Easter, around half (49%) of us will be travelling in the car to see family, friends or going on holiday.

“For those who are travelling it can be tempting to pack up the car early to avoid the stress of it in the morning. However, it could leave their vehicle vulnerable to theft. To reduce the risk of theft, there are some precautions drivers can take such as avoiding packing the car up the night before travelling, especially with any valuable possessions. By parking in a visible, well-lit and secure place it can act as a deterrent to thieves and, where possible, car owners can install CCTV at their home or a dashcam inside the vehicle. And, by using a steering wheel lock or installing a car alarm it can ensure drivers are quickly alerted to any break-in.

“As it is not possible to fully guarantee against car and belongings theft, drivers should make sure they have a robust insurance policy, so in the unfortunate event they’re covered. However, it’s still important to deter thieves wherever possible.
