How clean is the inside of your car?
Ahead of the Big Easter getaway, Europcar research reveals Brits are less than meticulous about keeping the inside of their car clean
New research commissioned by Europcar has found that most people let litter build up in their cars for weeks at a time before cleaning up. With many families planning trips away for the Easter break, a Spring clean could be just what their vehicle needs.
Key findings
- A quarter of vehicle owners surveyed only clear out the door pockets every few weeks
- 23% give the inside of their car a clean at least once a month
- 13% tend to clean up the car weekly
- 16% claim to clean up after every journey
- 15% immediately dispose of any wrappers from eating on the go
- 4% admitted to tossing the core/skin of fruit out the window
A very honest 12% admitted to only clearing up inside when they are going to be giving a friend or colleague a lift. 14% claim to never eat in their car and 7% enforce a food and drink ban on any passengers.
Sarah Clarke, Consumer Marketing Manager for Europcar commented: “It seems that many people are more than happy to drive around in something resembling a rubbish bin, while others prefer a pristine driving environment.
“Our research suggests people are more likely to ignore the mess for weeks at a time than stay on top of rubbish and mess by removing it at the first opportunity. With clear differences in attitudes to car cleanliness, there are bound to be some families that don’t see eye-to-eye on the matter, meaning empty crisp packets and stray biscuit crumbs could create some real family drama in some cars over the Easter break!”
Europcar provides access to a wide choice of clean vehicles from a network of locations across the UK. Reservations can be made at www.europcar.co.uk
