The Sow Far Sew Good exhibition celebrates 10 years of creative stitching by the volunteer
group Stitching Botanical at The National Botanic Garden of Wales. The exhibition will be
launched on Friday May 3rd with Dr Lucy Sutherland, Director of the Garden adding the “final stitch.”

From Saturday 4th May until Friday 17th May, members from the Stitching Botanical
volunteer group will be on hand to guide visitors and there will be skill sharing sessions on
specific days. These spectacular exhibits will be on display until 5th June.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to see work from 15 different projects carried out by
the volunteer group over the past 10 years. The body of work documents and celebrates the extensive botanical collection located at the National Botanic Garden of Wales and includes The Plant Pharmacy Patchwork which holds 176 embroideries illustrating the pharmaceutical properties of plants and the Stitching Botanical group’s latest project, Edible Botanicals.

Additionally, the group’s work illustrates many aspects of the natural world that are
important to the ethos of the Garden such as pollinators, natural habitats and local rivers,
including From Borneo to your Backyard- a collection of native and tropical pollinators.
Stitching Botanical group member Marilyn Caruana said,

“Volunteers from our Stitching Botanicals group have been part of some amazing projects
over the past 10 years, and we’re delighted to have the chance to showcase our work to the public over next few weeks. This is the first time our collection of work has all been on
display together and it will form one of the largest exhibitions of its kind to be held in Wales for many years.”

This exhibition therefore hopefully brings together two elements of interest to many across
Wales at the moment: resurgence of a traditional craft and the beauty of the natural world.

This exhibition will be on display in various locations around the Botanic Garden until 5th
June.
