As more Brits search for jobs that allow them to work from anywhere they like, new research, conducted by Moneypenny has revealed the best UK cities for job seekers looking for hybrid or fully remote roles.

Additionally, Rik Mistry, recruitment expert and managing partner at Interval Group discusses the rise in demand for remote roles and how this can benefit businesses.

Hosting UK headquarters for many global companies, Slough ranks in first place with 16.1% of all 53,747 roles currently being advertised on Indeed either being remote or hybrid work. With many industries offering the option to work from home, job seekers can expect to find hybrid or remote roles within industries such as customer service, marketing, and content writing.

On the northern outskirts of London, Watford ranks second with 13.8% of all roles being hybrid and 1.7% of roles being fully remote. Those with a teaching background or specialising in particular subjects could strike luck in Watford, with an abundance of roles in tutoring offering fully remote work.

Whilst the capital ranks third with 15% of roles advertised as either remote or hybrid, other cities to highlight include West Yorkshire hotspots such as Huddersfield and Leeds, alongside Greater Manchester and Bolton.

Rik said More jobseekers are taking a proactive approach to balance their working life with time at home. Generally, more candidates prefer the work-life balance that remote or hybrid working brings.”

He went on to say “we are seeing increasing demand for hybrid and remote work in professional services, including project management, IT and organisational change, as well as customer service roles across all industries and sectors.”

When it comes to the benefits of hybrid and remote work, Rik mentioned that this type of working can benefit both employees and employers alike.

Employees benefit from a better work-life balance, reduced commute time and a higher likelihood of finding a more fulfilling job thanks to reduced geographical constraints.”

“Employers benefit from significant cost savings and efficiency increases, mostly thanks to the reduction or elimination of office space, but also due to the statistical increase in employee productivity when working from home.

Employers are also more likely to secure the right talent by reducing or removing geographical constraints.”
