In spring 2023 Davies Craddock Insurance committed to supporting local charity Foothold Cymru and 12 months later they have presented the charity with £9,861.61 to support their services!

With over 40 years’ experience, Davies Craddock, part of the Lloyd and Whyte Group, is one of the largest independent insurance brokers in South Wales. Specialising in the provision of personal and business insurance they are a household name and are committed to supporting the community that they live and work in.

Foothold Cymru has been dedicated to supporting communities in West Wales for over 30 years, providing essential resources that many people take for granted, such as food, clothing, education and opportunities. The charity’s approach focuses on addressing the specific needs of the people of West Wales and working collaboratively with communities to bring about meaningful change.

Among the services provided by Foothold Cymru is the community food store, a food delivery service covering rural north Carmarthenshire, programs promoting healthy eating, cooking, and growing, a children’s clothing bank and a Tool Library.

Last year, as the cost of living crisis intensified, over 2,100 individuals accessed the charity’s food resilience services, highlighting the growing struggle many families face in meeting their basic needs. This year, with rising food inflation, the demand for Foothold Cymru’s services is expected to further increase, putting a strain on the charity’s resources.

Mike Theodoulou, Chief Executive of Foothold Cymru, expressed gratitude for the support from Davies Craddock Insurance, stating, “As a local charity we are always proud and grateful to receive support from a local business. Davies Craddock appreciate the importance of the work we do and they have dedicated the past 12 months to fundraising to make a positive impact on the people we support. Their incredible efforts will help us to be there for those who are struggling to make ends meet.”

Davies Craddock Insurance raised the incredible £9,861.61 through fundraising activities including a team of 3 taking on the Llanelli Half Marathon, in office fundraising, match funding and nominating Foothold Cymru for an Aviva Community Grant. In addition, company has provide staff to volunteer support by deploying its workforce to assist the charity with both one-off and ongoing projects on the ground.

Wynne Thomas, Operations Manager at Davies Craddock Insurance, said “Davies Craddock Insurance have been proud to be associated with Foothold Cymru over the last 12 months. It has been a privilege to introduce our clients to the cause and the considerable donations that our customers have made.
