Located in the cellars of the 400-year-old, Grade-I listed Hensol Castle, Hensol Castle Distillery has been producing its own brand of award-winning gin since late 2021 and the distillery is now releasing its own brand of spiced rum.

The range currently features two flavours: Hensol Castle Spiced Rum (40% ABV) and Hensol Castle Cherry Spiced Rum (38% ABV).

The Hensol Castle Spiced Rum is now available to purchase in 31 Asda supermarkets throughout Wales at £27 per bottle. Currently the Cherry Spiced Rum is only available to buy direct from Hensol Castle Distillery (onsite or online).

Adopting the London Dry method of distillation, the Hensol Castle Spiced Rum starts its journey as triple-distilled Caribbean rum, and then undergoes a meticulous fourth distillation where an array of exotic spices sourced responsibly from across the globe are introduced. Fresh orange and lime peel, punctuated with black pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon, mingle harmoniously with a bouquet of all spice berries, with the mixture expertly balanced and distilled. This spirited concoction is then enriched with the velvety allure of luxury dark chocolate and caramel, culminating in an infusion of the finest Welsh water for an unrivalled depth of flavour.

The UK rum market is the third largest in the world, according to a report by Campari Group UK; and data from CGA by NielsenIQ revealed in 2022 that rum sales in the UK surpassed the £1bn. Sales of flavoured and spiced varieties of rum were shown to have taken around three fifths of the rum market.Chris Leeke, Managing Director of www.hensolcastledistillery.com, said:

“We’ve seen huge success of our spirits within such a short space of time, considering we launched just over two years ago into the gin market. We’ve won many accolades and industry-leading awards and have seen our products listed in most major supermarkets around Wales. We’re thrilled that Hensol Castle Spiced Rum is now going to be found on the shelves of 31 Asda supermarkets and hope that rum lovers enjoy what we’ve created.”
