Local housebuilder, Barratt Developments South Wales, has today (09 May) donated £1,500 from its Community Fund to much-loved Llanelli charity, Many Tears Animal Rescue.
It comes following what was dubbed a ‘winter crisis’ — with animal abandonments reaching a three-year high and estimated to have totaled more than 21,000 animals abandoned in 2023*.
As a result, there’s more pressure than ever before on animal rescue centres like Many Tears to house and re-home pets in need.
Barratt’s donation will therefore go towards paying for food, care, and life-saving medical treatments for the animals — allowing Many Tears to continue providing sanctuary for dogs, cats, and horses in need across South Wales and the wider UK.
Captain, Quest and Fabian are just some of the animals currently in Many Tears’ care, and in search of their forever homes…
Captain is a handsome one-year-old, Old English Sheepdog, who is a little bit shy at the moment and likes to hang back and observe his kennel friends.
He is underweight too, so needs a loving family to get him up to his optimum weight and help him become his best self. He gains confidence around his kennel friends, so will need a home with another dog to help him adjust to his new home.
Quest is a beautiful three-year-old Cockapoo, who is also rather shy — but is starting to show her gentle and inquisitive personality, as her confidence grows.
She loves playing with squeaky toys and exploring the yard with her kennel friends. She has never lived in a home before, so will need a calm adult-only home and a resident canine friend to show her the ropes and help her adjust.
Haf is a two-year-old Cocker Spaniel who came to Many Tears from a breeder. She is a sweet girl, with a lovely calm nature but is nervous of humans and will need lots of love and kindness to bring her out of her shell.
Haf has never lived in a home before and relies on her kennel friends for support so will need a confident resident dog to show her the ropes.

“Most animals arrive needing expensive, and often lifesaving, veterinary care — from eye and ear infections to heart operations — that we simply couldn’t afford without generous donations like this one from Barratt.”
