May 15th marks 76 years since the original Nakba in 1948 when more than 700,000 Palestinians were expelled from, or fled from their homes as a result of invasion by Zionist paramilitaries.

This later was continued by the Israeli military. Many massacres were carried out, village wells were poisoned, and hundreds of Palestinian villages were destroyed.

The ethnic cleansing of Palestine continues to this day. We are witnessing daily the genocide being carried out in Gaza. At this very moment, the World is watching children and their families die by Israeli bombing, suffering extreme injuries and facing starvation.

All over the World, people are showing support for Palestine. On Wednesday, Solidarity with Palestine Pembrokeshire are organising an all day vigil in Haverfordwest. Supporters will be outside County Hall for most of the day. Pembrokeshire County Council is part of Dyfed Pension Fund.

The Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s research shows Dyfed Pension’s Fund has made over £64 million worth of investments that are complicit with Israeli genocide and apartheid.

We will be petitioning people who work at County Hall and members of the public throughout the day and will also deliver a statement to the Council asking them to divest from funding genocide.

At 5.30pm supporters of Solidarity with Palestine Pembrokeshire will be assembling outside the office of Stephen Crabb MP, in Market St. Many Palestinian families have kept their keys from their original houses and handed them down over the generations, in the hope that these keys would lead them back home one day.

As Rafah is being destroyed we need to recognise that a homeland and a way back to these doors is fast disappearing . Supporters will be bringing keys and writing labels with the names of villages that were taken from the Palestinian people.

We will post these to Stephen Crabb as a reminder of what happened and is continuing to happen. We will be showing our respect for the endurance of the people of Palestine throughout the day.

We welcome visits from anyone who wants to find out more about Palestine, and from those who wants to join with us in calling for an immediate ceasefire and to keep calling for a halt to the genocide.
