- The Wales Trades Union Congress – the body that brings together trades unions representing around 400,000 workers in Wales – will mark 50 years since its first meeting.
- Wales TUC has been a staunch supporter of devolution, and this – along with the steel crisis, public sector pay and safety in schools – will be debated at their Congress in Llandudno next week.
- Wales TUC General Secretary Shavanah Taj, TUC General Secretary Paul Nowak, and the First Minister, Vaughan Gething, will address Congress.
- Shavanah Taj will highlight how more than a decade of austerity has stifled wage growth and left public services severely underfunded.
Wales Trades Union Congress (Wales TUC) will hold its biennial Congress in Llandudno next week (21-23 May 2024).
The event will bring together more than 200 trade union leaders from across Wales to debate the issues that matter most to workers in Wales, including:
- Port Talbot and the future of the steel industry
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its role in the workplace
- Safety of staff in schools
- Public transport and rail nationalisation
- Devolution, including devolution of criminal justice
- Sexual harassment in the workplace
The debates will take place across the three days and agree the priorities for the Wales TUC for the following two years.
