Parkdean Resorts have discovered a five-year pattern for heatwave dates and revealed them publicly

Knowing the right time to book a UK staycation that aligns with sunny weather can often feel like a challenging task, especially when planning in advance. Many Brits are already anticipating the arrival of sunshine, with 2,000 online searches in the UK this past month alone for “when will it get hot?”.

Thanks to Parkdean Resorts, selecting dates for a sunny staycation doesn’t have to be a guessing game this summer, as they have discovered exactly when heatwaves are set to grace the UK in 2024, based on science.

Analysing UK weather data from the past five years, Parkdean Resorts has uncovered exactly when the country is set to experience temperatures over 24°C again in the coming months.

The heatwave predictions for a UK staycation in 2024

The data revealed that the hottest days of the whole year are expected to fall from Wednesday 17th July – Friday 19th July, where in the past five years temperatures have been a scorching 28.2 °C on average.

The predictions show that the second hottest spell will fall in August from Wednesday 7th August – Tuesday 13th August. In the past five years, temperatures during these dates have averaged 27.2 °C, meaning that this year should be set for sunshine too. Fun fact – this is when Cornwall’s Boardmasters Festival will be taking place, meaning visitors are in with a chance of getting the perfect weather for all of the beach activities.

Holidaymakers can also book a hot June staycation, with Saturday 22nd June – Friday 28th June set to reach 25.2 °C based on temperature averages over the last five years.

In a survey of 2,000 Brits carried out by Parkdean Resorts, they revealed that 41% say the ultimate temperature for a BBQ is between 20-25 °C. So, stocking up on burgers and sausages for this June staycation won’t go amiss!
