Rishi Sunak is on course for a sensational slump at the general election if the betting at BoyleSports is anything to go by, with short odds backing the Tories to return with under 100 seats.
Wagers placed on the general election so far mean it’s just a 5/4 shot that the Conservative seat count falls between 50-99 from the 365 they won at the 2019 election, while a paltry return of 0-49 seats is not rated out of the question at odds of 4/1.
Sunak has claimed voting for Reform UK will hand Labour a ‘blank cheque,’ but leader Nigel Farage has declared his party as the new opposition to Labour after they moved ahead of the Tories in a new YouGov poll for The Times this week.
Reform UK have leapfrogged the Liberal Democrats in the betting stakes, but Labour remain on track for a landslide victory with the chances of a majority plummeting into 1/33 from 1/7.
Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “Punters have turned to predicting the scale of a Tory defeat and they are banking on a massacre, with the trends now suggesting they’ll have less than 100 MPs on July 5th.”
