Members of Ferryside Women’s Institute (WI) have raised £2,540 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Glangwili Hospital.

The Ferryside WI, which has over 30 members, is the oldest WI group in Carmarthenshire.

They chose the unit at their charity of the year as member Brenda Morton-Roberts is currently receiving treatment there.

Brenda said: “Everybody in the WI contributed hugely on various aspects. We raised the funds through our annual ladies day, a coffee morning and a toy and book sale at Ferryside carnival.

“The chemo unit is absolutely amazing. They have really looked after and cared for me.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, the official charity of Hywel Dda University Health Board, said: “We’d like to say a massive thank you to Brenda and members of Ferryside WI for their donation.

“The support of our local communities enables us to provide services over and above what the NHS can provide in the three counties of Hywel Dda and we are extremely grateful for every donation we receive.”
